Fast ForWord® is a computer based skill intervention program that addresses reading and language skills while at the same time developing foundational cognitive skills like memory, attention, processing, and sequencing. It specifically targets the root causes of language and reading difficulty, and produces fast learning gains.
Students using the Fast ForWord® program can raise their language and/or reading skill level up to 2 years in as little as 40 – 50 hours using the program. It is different from other interventions because it strengthens the key pathways in the brain that help children learn, so they can pay closer attention to their teachers, absorb information faster, and remember what they are taught.
- Individualized Instruction: each user follows a program based on their specific needs and it automatically adjusts and adapts to their strengths and weaknesses to ensure consistent development of all skills. Every trial adjusts to each learner, keeping participants successful 80% of the time.
- Easy to Use: students can access the online program with an internet connection and a desktop, laptop, or tablet. The exercises for each day are automatically loaded and tracked when the student logs in.
- Clear Progress Reports: A variety of detailed reports graphically show progress through the various exercises and quickly identify skills where additional support is required, so I am able to respond immediately to help them develop the needed skills.
- Credibility/Proven Results: No other reading and language intervention program has been as thoroughly researched and reviewed as Fast ForWord®. The program has more than 55 patents in neuroscience and education, and more than
250 research studies verifying its effectiveness. Some of the most impressive independent research comes from Stanford and Harvard and shows actual physiological changes in the brain after struggling readers used Fast ForWord®.
- Uses the Principles of Neuroplasticity: Fast ForWord® was created by renowned neuroscientists to permanently improve brain processing speed, which makes reading and all learning easier. It provides cognitive and literacy “cross-training.” Each Fast ForWord® exercise focuses on a specific set of reading or language tasks while simultaneously developing memory, attention, processing speed, and sequencing.
Reading Assistant Plus
In addition to Fast ForWord®, I also offer another software program from the same company called Reading Assistant Plus. The Reading Assistant Plus program is the only online reading tool that uses speech recognition to correct and support students as they read aloud, helping them build fluency and comprehension with the help of an interactive listener. No other program or e-book provides comparable real-time guidance and feedback, and guides the student in putting to practical use all the skills developed in Fast ForWord®.
Using the Fast ForWord® and Reading Assistant Plus programs at the same time is a powerful way to improve your student’s reading skills. They work together to form a comprehensive solution for your struggling student. Because the Fast ForWord® program is cross-training cognitive skills and the Reading Assistant Plus program gives students crucial practice with oral reading, it’s ideal to have students use both programs simultaneously. Not only does Reading Assistant Plus improve oral reading, it also improves academic vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension of reading selections. Reading Assistant Plus offers a range of structured reading material, fiction and non-fiction, with high interest and reading level appropriate vocabulary for readers of all ages.
I am a licensed provider of both Fast ForWord® and Reading Assistant Plus. Click the link below to ask me any questions about either of these programs, or to inquire about working with me to use this software to help a struggling reader.
